Turning your service into a product is one of the highest leverage ways of increasing your income with little risk. Just look at the thousands of seminar speakers doing the rounds these days. Many speak for free and make a killing on product sales at the back of the room.

It doesn't matter if you sell shoes, hairstyles or computer games, there's a way to tie sales of information products to your Business.

Of course, if you can't come up with something yourself, there are thousands of great products available right now through affiliate programs that you could offer your clients instead. 

Two places to start looking for suitable affiliate products are Clickbank and Commission Junction.  If you can't find anything suitable here, just go to Google and type in 'your product' + affiliate, and  you will most likely find plenty of merchants with affiliate programs and products to choose from.

Strategy 6 - Why You Should Think Seriously About Building A Global Web Presence, Even If You Are Selling Shoes To Little Old Ladies In Wagga...

Most small Business owners, especially those who service a local market, feel that they don't need a website because they can't see how it could possibly add anything to their sales or profits.

Well hopefully after reading the last two lessons about Affiliate Marketing and Information Publishing, you are starting to see the potential for creating additional revenue streams online.

While it's true that you can promote Affiliate products successfully without having your own website, the most efficient and profitable way of doing this is by doing what marketing 'guru' Dr Ken Evoy calls 'Pre-selling'.

Pre-selling means that rather than simply mentioning a product in your Newsletter or classified ad and giving readers a link to click on that takes them straight to the sales page of your affiliate Merchant (or even your own sales site, for that matter), you introduce your products (or affiliate products) through first writing an article or review of the item, then include a link at the end of the article for people to click on if people would like more information.

Studies have shown that Affiliates who Pre-sell products before referring visitors the their merchants have click through and sales rates up to 10 times that of Affiliates who simply give visitors a text link or banner ad to click on without any explanation or introduction to the product.

Ken's Manual 'Make Your Content Presell' goes into great depth about how to write to both please the search engines and make your visitors want to click on your links. 

It's mainly focused on people who are using Site Build It! but you can take the ideas and principles he discusses and build your site using one of the many free site building services available if you want to and you know what you are doing.

You can find lots of free website building services by going to Google and searching for them, but either way, you need a website for your Business, or your leaving a lot of money on the table.

Here's why -

  • You can direct people from your ads to visit your site to read a free report (see the article about how to do this on the How To Build A Sales Website page) on a topic that is interesting to your target market. In this report, you can make a far better case for why people should buy from you than in your Newspaper ads or other marketing materials where space far more is limited. You can tell people the whole story, giving them concrete reasons and answering all of their questions so that they can make an informed buying decision.

  • You can attract visitors from the search engines and penetrate new markets for your products and services that were previously unavailable to you. (You can read more about how to do this on the page above or on the How To Build A Theme Based Content Page) There are millions of people online and many more coming every day. You can tap into this huge pool of buyers and boost your sales massively.

  • You can constantly test new sales messages, headlines, offers and ideas on your website using this visitor traffic, then take your winners offline and use them in your other marketing. Because you can use Google Adwords and have targeted traffic visiting your site within an hour, you can test your marketing very inexpensively, quickly and effectively. When you find an ad or promotion that works, you can roll it out across other media to maximize your exposure and profits.

  • You can use your website to educate your customers and prospects about your products and services and show them how what you offer can help them improve their lives.

  • You can quickly and easily survey your customers and ask them what they want to buy from you. The secret to any Business involves just three steps - Find a group of people who are interested in something, ask them what they want to buy, then sell it to them. A simple form on your website is the perfect way to ask your subscribers and clients questions about what they want to buy and then you can offer it to them in your Newsletter the next month. How easy is that?

  • You can use it to add multiple new revenue streams to your Business by Pre-selling both your own products and services or affiliate products as mentioned above.
